‘Tis the season to make merry, and send your diet on an indefinite timeout. Or at least, until those well-intentioned New Year resolutions surface on the first day of 2020. Until then, The Sassy Spoon’s founder, Rachel Goenka is bringing the party to you with the launch of her debut cookbook, ‘Adventures with Mithai’.
And we aren’t talking about play-it-safe staples either. As a new decade dawns upon us, the Insta-famous chef wants to give your palate the 2020 update. Traditional classics like kaju katli and barfi are fittingly reimagined as kaju katli truffles and barfi cheesecakes. The conscientious gym bunnies will, meanwhile, revel in the keto-friendly and vegan recipes. Taking cues from her French patisserie experience, the cookbook offers a contemporary twist to your grandma’s classics. She says, “Fascinated with desserts from a young age and always in love with mithai, my first cookbook had to be anything but run-of-the-mill. So ‘Sassy’ became synonymous with unconventional, brazen, out-of-the-box and cheeky, which is what this book is all about.”
