Inside stylist Kayal Parakh's envy-worthy Christmas wishlist
Get the lowdown on the most exciting styles for the season from the Mumbai-based fashion stylist
‘Tis the season to make merry and indulge yourself with a little something special. But if you’ve been having a tough time navigating the flashy sales and impulse buys to find the gems that are worth your money, help is at hand. We got the industry’s top insiders to handpick the items that they are loving right now. Leveraging their position on the frontlines of all that’s new in the world of beauty and fashion, here’s what they are excited about this season.
Calling first dibbs on the hottest new styles serves as one of the many perks of the job when you work as a fashion stylist. A NIFT and Central Saint Martins graduate, Kayal Parakh has lent her sartorial expertise to some exciting young names on the scene, including Parul Gulati and Karishma Tanna, as well as high street favourites — think Vero Moda and Jack & Jones. With the gifting season upon us, we asked her to share the five things you’ll want Santa to slip into your stocking. Here’s what we learned:
Gucci 1955 Horse Bit Bucket Bag
This bag has been on my list since that day it was launched. It’s a cute bucket bag with the Gucci horse bit logo and spells classic in every way. The simplicity of this bag speaks volumes, and that’s what I love about it.
Bralette and metallic silver pants from Jaywalking
I have been a fan of the brand at the very first sight. It’s so casual and comfortable and at the same time, extremely chic. If I had to pick a go-to look for all my parties in December, this would be it.
Glossier Cloud Paint and Super Bounce Serum
The reviews for all products from this brand have been doing the rounds for a while now. The minute I saw their Instagram feed, I knew I was going to fall in love with this brand — not only for the amazing products they make, but for the eye candy packaging these products come in. And December being the entree of winters in Mumbai, we ought to take a little extra care for our skin to make it look plump and moisturised.
Mini Pocket Bluetooth Printer
I am a sucker for cute things, and what’s cuter than printed pictures of all your precious moments. The benefit of this printer is that you can choose what pictures we want to print, add filters, make funny faces, choose the best one out of 100 photos we take and then print it, which stays with us a memory forever.
Stacking up on Misho Designs
I love the label’s dainty jewellery which can be styled with everything without having to think twice. Misho has some classic evergreen pieces that I think every girl should own. On my wishlist currently are the dual-toned pebble rings and Pala bangles.
